According to the National Survey of Health, 10 states with the highest overweight and obesity rates are in the USA. Americans consumed 300 more calories daily in 2002 than they did in 1985. Being overweight opens adults to all sorts of disorders, ranging form breathing problems to high cholesterol, heart problems, and Type 2 diabetes. Our community can make a difference.
Obesity prevention and reduction focuses on the “energy balance”. Solutions must address the factors that influence both eating and physical activity. This year’s race will highlight eating your “5 A Day”, 3 servings of vegetables plus 2 servings of fruit and physical activity. These are the USDA’s recommended minimum amount of vegetables and fruits we each should consume daily.
The PaniniFun 5K or 1 mile walk/run is planned for Saturday 28th July, 2012. The race start time will be 9:00am.
